The Mighty Eagle
King of the Sky
Have you ever watched a bird flying so high that it almost touches the clouds? That amazing bird could be an eagle! Eagles are large, strong birds of prey, which means they hunt other animals for food. Because of their power and grace, they are often called the kings of the sky.
Eagles have long, wide wings that help them glide smoothly in the air without flapping too much. They can ride on wind currents and soar for hours. Their eyesight is one of the sharpest in the animal world. An eagle can spot a tiny fish in a lake or a mouse on the ground from very far away!
Their hooked beak is perfect for tearing food, and their strong talons (sharp claws) help them grab prey tightly. Eagles mainly eat fish, rabbits, snakes, and small birds. Some eagles, like the sea eagle, are excellent fish hunters and swoop down to catch fish from water.
Eagles build large nests called eyries on tall trees or steep cliffs where other animals cannot reach. They line their nests with soft grass and feathers. A mother eagle lays eggs, and when they hatch, the baby birds are called eaglets. The parents take great care of them until they learn to fly.
Eagles are not just special in nature — they are also symbols of strength, bravery, and freedom. Many countries use eagles on flags, stamps, and coins. The Bald Eagle is the national bird of the United States, while the Golden Eagle is famous in many parts of the world.
